Just "Motel."

Today, I took a break from our new series..."Reflections on a Way of Life" (yep, we have undergone a name change...the show isn't until April so we have a little more time to get the name that really captures the show)...and went to what William Wray might call "Dirty Beauty." I went into my motel photo reference and came up with this long overlooked motel. I still find them fun to paint, so will do some more. They remind me of road trips when I was a child...gas was relatively cheap, the roads less crowded and our expectations for a vacation less. It was fun.

I think these motel and abandoned buildings you
paint are fabulous. Glad you did another one.

I am a huge fan of 'Route 66' / 'America's Main Street' / 'The Mother Road.' The series of old motels are wonders... Having traveled the road all my life, these seem like 'old friends.' I was reared on Rt 66 and have witnessed so much of this disappearing...

The collection of trailers is also splendid. One really caught my fancy - with included a small wing on the back portion. "YES -- I remember," (I almost said aloud) upon looking at all of them. Your art is not only beautiful it evokes such feelings of longing and memory and even delight!
