Channeling my "Inner Hopper?"

I just sent a photo of this painting to my friend and fellow painter, Vicki Shuck for a critique, and am inviting critiques from anyone reading this. (The painting as it stands today is really only 90% completed.) We have a show together in July focusing on the land and the people of the Klamath Basin. This is Vicki's home ground. So my impressions are more of an outsider. It is so obvious how important trains are for transporting the farm goods, that they do have to feature in the show.

Vicki said it reminded her of Hopper...well Hopper is one of the first painters whose work inspired me for landscape work. Prior to that...high school, some college I was all about portraits and figurative work. Modigliani was my hero....(thank goodness it was not Keane, even though we lived in the Bay Area).

Hopper remains one of my favorites...his way of expressing mood with light. Though now I am more likely to worship at the temple of Edgar Payne.

It is Hopperesque - can definitely see the influence, Janice - but thankfully not as bleak as his work could be . . .
